AGATE -- Carried while gardening, this stone increases the fertility and health of your garden. Useful
for general protection, and for protecting children. Agate aids healing, especially blood, skin, and intestinal conditions.
Agate can increase strength, restore bodily energy, increase courage, and even promote longevity. Useful in dealing with envious
thoughts and spite and for help in easing stressful situations. Agate, especially banded agate, is also a good meditation
stone. AMBER -- Excellent for use in rituals for enhancing your beauty and attractiveness. Helps to attract
love and stimulates happiness and pleasure. Amber is used as good luck and protective amulet, and is extremely protective
against negative magick which has been directed against you. On the altar, it can increase the effectiveness of your spells.
Amber is said to increase strength while relieving or curing health conditions. Amber is also very useful in protecting children. AMETHYST -- Amethyst helps to calm fears, reduces stress, dispels doubts and negativity, and can relieve
depression and promote good judgement. Amethyst induces vivid dreams, increases mental powers, and is useful in psychism.
Used for drawing love. AMETRINE - Ametrine is a combination of amethyst and citrine, and has the magickal qualities associated
with these two stones. Ametrine is useful for working with spirit and animal guides, meditation, and astral travel. ANGELITE - Angelite is a calming stone which may be used to help stabilize the emotions and ease anxiety
and stress. Angelite is also used for creative work, psychic ability, public speaking, and helping oneself to become more
assertive. Angelite can be used in spells and rituals designed to reduce anger, aid in self-forgiveness, and gain spiritual
protection. APACHE TEARS -- (An opaque form of OBSIDIAN). Good for grounding and centering, and promoting peace.

cleansing and purifying. Aquamarine can be used in rituals to ensure good health. AZURITE - A dark blue stone which can heal emotional trauma, confusion, blocks, and negativity. This

excellent stone to use for promoting creativity. CRYSTAL QUARTZ (CLEAR) -- This stone has the ability to be programmed with the powers of any other stone,
and then substituted for that stone in any ritual. Great for psychism and as a general magickal power amplifier. FLOURITE -- This stone comes in beautiful transparent shades of blue, green, and lavender. It is used
to strengthen the power of all other stones. It helps to clear and organize thoughts, and has the ability to reduce the level
of emotions in any situation. Heightens analytical abilities, and effectively lowers anger, depression, and desperation. GARNET -- Garnet is a highly protective stone, as it provides a barrier of charged vibrations which

and stomach disorders. LABRADORITE-- This stone comes from the sun/moonstone family. The stone is a opaque smoky quartz color,
but when rotated in sunlight, has flashes of vivid green, blue, red, yellow, orange, and gold. This stone carries some of
the properties from both the moon and the sun. Helps in opening the heart chakara in order to more readily receive love. Increases
inner strength and convictions, as well as promoting courage. Draws success to the owner's life. Greatly enhances dreaming,
and the ability to remember the content of the dreams during the waking hours. Also helps to enhance all forms of perception
during the day. The stone may be more powerful in one area than another, dependant upon what color the "flash" is. (see color
magick for more). This is a fantastic stone to acquire, and then to continue to carry or use throughout one's life - as the
results of the stone's energies continue to build and each result enhances the next result. LAPIS LAZULI -- One of my favorite stones. This stone is useful in improving emotional, physical, spiritual
and psychic conditions. It relieves depression while promoting peace. Lapis is excellent for use in divination. Place this
stone on your altar while scrying, gazing, or reading the Tarot or runes. Lapis is very protective and also promotes courage.
Can be used to draw spiritual love to oneself, and is a powerful fidelity charm. MALACHITE -- Place one on your altar to lend extra energy to magickal spells. Guards against negativity
and depression, calms and soothes. Enhances the ability to give and receive love. Increases business success. Promotes sleep.
Very protective against physical dangers. MOONSTONE -- Great for divination and psychism-many people keep a moonstone with their tarot cards for
increased psychic ability. Helpful in dieting and maintaining a youthful appearance. The moonstone is love drawing and helpful
for reconciliation. Moonstone is a gently protective stone, and is extremely useful in protection while traveling by water. MOTHER-OF-PEARL -- This has been used consistantly for many generations in ritual jewelry. It is sometimes
placed on newborn babies for protection. It is also great for use in spells for wealth and prosperity. PERIDOT -- Guards against illusions, enchantments, and nightmares. If anger is a problem for you, try
using this gemstone as it is known to calm even the most raging anger. Peridot also calms nervousness and banishes negative
emotions. Good for general healing, promoting sleep, and attracting money. RED JASPER -- Known to promote beauty and grace. Protective and especially useful in defensive magick
-- use this stone to send negativity directed at you back to the original sender. Increases mental processes and forms a barrier
against dangerous desires and whims. Also a great all-around good luck stone. RHODOCHROSITE -- This beautiful pink stone is a powerful love drawing amulet. It is wonderful for soothing
the mind, body, and emotions. Can give the body extra strength during strenuous activity. It has also been used to increase
beauty, especially the skin and complexion. ROSE QUARTZ -- The definitive stone for love rituals. This stone can be used to open to heart chakra.
It is extremely love attracting. It also promotes peace, happiness, and fidelity in established relationships. RUBY - With its beautiful red colour, the ruby is quite useful in love magick, especially for spells
involving sexual love (increasing one's desire, etc.) and lust. Rubies are also useful in promoting courage and increasing
energy. SMOKEY QUARTZ -- A wonderful stone to use for grounding and centering. This stone can also be used to
help overcome depression and other negative emotions. It is also an excellent mood elevator. SODALITE -- A wonderful stone to draw wisdom. It can be held in the hand to help still the mind and
relax the body. A wonderful meditation stone, and superb at healing emotionally related disorders (those caused by stress,
anger, fear, or nervousness). Useful in dispelling guilt and fear. SUNSTONE -- Stimulates sexual arousal and increases sexual energy. Very protective. Sunstone is also
used to increase physical energy when ill. If you want to strengthen the energy of any healing herb, place a sunstone in with
the herb. TIGEREYE -- A beautiful, flashy stone which is wonderful for protection against all forms of danger.
Useful in divination and as a tool to delve into past lives. Promotes wealth and prosperity. Increases energy flow through
the body, and is therefore useful during illness. Tiger Eye can strengthen your convictions and create courage and confidence. TOPAZ (BLUE) -- Use this gem in purification rituals. Great at promoting peace, while calming emotions.
Useful in removing pain from the body. Placed by the bed at night, this stone is useful in preventing or halting nightmares
and ensuring a good night's sleep. TURQUOISE -- A wonderful all-around stone, useful in drawing love, money, health and beauty. A very
protective stone. Use in rituals to attract new friends or lovers. Promotes joy. A wonderful gift, as it is said to grant
the receiver wealth and happiness. YELLOW CARNELIAN -- Heightens visualization and communication abilities. Great for use in writing or
public speaking. Travel related spells are enhanced by the presence of yellow carnelian. A protective stone, and good for
healing, especially disorders of the stomach, nervous system, and skin.
Black & White Blue Sapphire, Lapis,AmethystAquarmarine, Soft Azure & Light Blue Cleansing Stones Method 1 Fill a non-metallic bowl with warm spring water and add a few tablespoons of sea salt.
Using a stick, or your finger, stir the mixture and add your stones. Stir the mixture and the stone, then allow them to rest
undisturbed overnight. When removing your stones, rinse with spring water to remove any salt. Place the stones in sunlight
to dry and charge, removing them at night, repeat for 3 days. Method 2 Fill a non metallic bowl with sea salt, and bury the stones in the salt, allowing to rest
overnight. When removing, rinse with spring water to remove any salt, and place in sun for 3 days to charge, removing them
at night. (This method not recommended fro high lustre stones, as salt will dull their appearance). Method 3 Allow to dry in direct sunlight for an hour or so (not recommended for amethyst, rose quartz,
aquamarine, smokey quartz and flourite, as they will fade quickly if exposed to sunlight). Method 4 Place overnight under the light of the Full Moon. Method 5 Bury in the Earth for 3 days. Method 6 In a non-metallic bowl, mix spring water and sea salt, or water from the sea, and soak
stones for several hours, preferably overnight. Method 7 Smudge stone with sage or cedar. Method 8 Hold the stone in your projective hand, and concentrate on willing positive white energy
into the stone, banishing the negative energy. This charges the stone with your personal energy. After using a stone for your magickal workings, you may wish to cleanse or clear it. This
is not necessary if you will use this stone for the same purpose again. If a stone is used for healing or drawing out illness
or disease, then it is highly recommeded that you cleanse it. Note: Tap water that has been boiled and cooled can be substituted
for spring water. Regular salt may be used in the place of sea salt. The lore of remedial gems is rooted in Vedic astrology and upheld
by modern astrophysics. All celestial bodies distribute both positive (benign or friendly) and negative (malefic) radiations
as they move through their cycles. These emanations affect, for good or ill, one's sensitivity to their electromagnetic rays
(according to one's past karma as shown from the horoscope). The planets do not target individuals with negative karma. One's
receptivity to their balanced or afflicted cosmic radiation is measured in one's Vedic horoscope, a detailed reflection of
one's past good and bad karma returning in this life. Suffering or inconvenience occur when the needed balance of planetary
radiation is thwarted by malefic positioning in the horoscope. Of course the planets are physically in the same location for
all people. The vedic horoscope is a reflection of our chakras' receptivity to the planetary rays and their consequent stimulating
and manifesting effects. It is our past that the horoscope shows as a returning pattern in this life. Aryuvedic gems, because
of their similar electromagnetic signature to specific planetary energies, can greatly enhance the chakras' receptivity to
those energies. This is best done by direct skin contact that is continuous. Vedic gems are credited with lessening or eliminating
a person's magnetism for lack of financial success, spiritual indifference, relationship, health and employment problems,
as well as aiding one's enthusiasm to overcome disadvantageous karmic tendencies. Few people have the understanding of how gems touching the skin may
harmoniously change our radiating electromagnetism in a way that will help counteract the undesirable aspects of our karmic
pattern. Many people don't stop to analyze their karmic pattern. Our karmic pattern reflects our personality, interests, character,
environmental situations, and opportunity. If our personality lacks sincere friendliness and a strong desire
to be of service, this can be overcome by the use of intellegent will. But it is also a vibrational reflection of the sum
total of one's past actions, thoughts, and environmental influences that hold our being accountable via karma. Wearing gems
that touch the skin subtly or obviously affect our mind and magnetic relationship with our karmic pattern. Of course it is
wiser to rely on changing oneself through the use of active self development via qualified teachers, but this important process
requires effort. Correctly made gem talismans can act as a lifelong aid and stimuli to this essential path. Gems Counteract Malefic Planets According to the Puranas, Vedic historical texts, kings of
previous ages wore powerful gems on whatever parts of the body were slightly weak or vulnerable. The gems served as shields
against the belligerent attacks of their adversaries.
It was also believed that each precious gem related to a planetary
deity. Thus wearing the gem of that particular planet would help to appease its deity, and thus more favorable life conditions
would come to that person through the planetary resonances.
The practice of wearing gems for strengthening certain weak
planets in the horoscope, is still being practiced today, not only in Vedic cultures, but in certain western ones as well.
In practice, it is found that dramatic and positive effects come to a person by wearing the gem(s) that encourage strengthening
of planetary imbalances in the horoscope. It is also found that one can bring negative energies to him or herself by wearing
the wrong gems.
Thus planetary gemology is an ancient healing and protective art that
can be used to ones advantage with the help of a Vedic astrologer. Gems and Planets For each planet, the primary stone is listed first. Secondary stones can also be used, but the primary stones are preferred.
Moon: Pearl increases emotional stability,
mental strength, friendliness and contentment. Weakness or afflictions are shown by anxiety, mental and emotional swings,
worry, isolation or the inability to cope with relationships and people. An afflicted Mercury or Rahu can also cause some
similar difficulties. Unless well balanced with other gems, consideration should be taken if the person is overweight, has
high phlegm, congestion (Kapha) or for Taurus, Aquarius and Sagittarius Ascendants. Pearls are especially helpful for Cancer,
Pisces and Scorpio Ascendants. Mars: Red Coral helps stimulate courage, energy, insight
and ability to win over opponents. Weakness is shown by lack of motivation, laziness, fear, passiveness, or inability to control
their passions and/or temper. Care should be taken in the size of red coral used, if high sexuality, or fever (Pitta) is present.
Gemini and Virgo Ascendants should be careful wearing red coral except with counterbalancing gems. Red coral is especially
good for Aries, Scorpio, Cancer and Leo Ascendants. Mercury: Emerald gives mental alertness, memory, communication
skills, discriminative intellect and mental control. When Mercury is weak or afflicted, a mental dullness, immaturity or poor
memory retention may be evident. The logical part of the mind is not functioning in a normal way, which may cause daydreaming,
anxiety, fantasies or an irrational outlook on the world. As mentioned, the Moon or Rahu can cause somewhat similar complaints,
but Mercury is specifically the planet of intellect and communication. Emerald is generally pretty safe, unless the person
is already overly mental. Aries and Scorpio Ascendants may find that it boosts their impulsiveness or egoism. It is especially
favorable for Gemini, Virgo, Taurus and Libra Ascendants. Jupiter: Yellow Sapphire enhances the qualities of Jupiter,
such as wisdom, judgment, expansiveness, compassion, joyfulness, enthusiasm and faith. When Jupiter is weak, we feel contracted,
without purpose in life, moody, pessimistic or having self pity. There may be financial problems, as generally this planet
more than any other, has to do with prosperity. Too strong a Saturn can cause similar complaints. Jupiter is the best benefic
and so is safe to strengthen, although it can be a source of some difficulties for Taurus and Libra Ascendants. It is particularly
beneficial for Sagittarius, Pisces, Aries and Scorpio Ascendants. Venus: Diamond helps increase attractiveness, artistic quality,
grace, and charm. When Venus is afflicted we may feel trapped in a sensuous life style, sexually obsessive, or a creature
of comfort. When weak, one may be coarse, crude, or aggressive. There may be troubled or inappropriate romances. It may be
difficult to express love or other emotions in a positive way. A very strong Mars may appear to be a weak Venus and a weak
or afflicted Mercury may make personal expression difficult. Diamonds, if of good quality, are relatively safe, because Venus
is a benefic planet. It is especially good for Taurus, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius Ascendants.Saturn: Blue Sapphire
helps bring balanced detachment, calm, practicality, and endurance. When weak or afflicted, it brings troubles, weakness,
disease, vulnerability or anxiety. It can cause financial hardship, lack of drive, or insomnia. A difficult Saturn may cause
manifestations similar to a weak Jupiter, Sun or Mars. Blue Sapphire should be used with great caution, unless in a navaratna,
and even then the size and purity should be watched. It may cause problems for thin people, those having dry skin, or those
remote from the world or already overly detached (Vata). It is a difficult planet for most, but is especially favorable for
Capricorn, Aquarius, Taurus and Libra Ascendants. Rahu and Ketu are the north and south nodes
of the moon. They are invisible energy fields where eclipses occur and are considered secondary planetary influences.
Rahu: Hessonite Garnet is the gem for the shadowy planet
Rahu, called the North Node in the West. In this age of media, electronic devices and electro-magnetic radiation, Rahu is
very much affecting the world in general. It helps to balance the influences of media like television, it aids a sense of
clarity, of knowing one's own mind, and general popularity in society. When weak or poorly placed, it causes strange
reactions, imaginings, occult influences, fear, agitation, addictive behavior, drugs, lack of sense of self, lack of regard
for society's norms or dissipation. Therefore, Hessonite Garnet, also known in ancient India as cinnabar, is obviously a very
good gem to wear in a Navaratna during this age. Ketu: Chrysoberyl Cat's Eye is the gem of Ketu, called the
South Node in the West. When weak, it causes doubt, uncertainty, poor discrimination, poor concentration or lack of insight.
It is the planet of ultimate spiritual awakening. It causes tendencies that appear to be like a weak Ascendant. But as a weak
Rahu brings lack of clarity and a clouding of perception, a weak Ketu brings doubt and questioning. The gem should be used
with caution if the person is high in Pitta, as under the description for Mars, or if Ketu is in a sign of a planet that is
weak or afflicted. However, if included in a Navaratna, this should be resolved by balancing both Ketu and the planet ruling
the sign it falls under.

Agate is a banded multicolored stone. They are a type of Chalcedony.
[Microcystalline variety of Quartz embedded in opal]They come in an infinite
amount of colors and patterns and no two Agates are alike. Agate must be polished to bring out its beauty. The unpolished
specimens are dull and ugly. They are usually found in rounded nodules or knobs that when sliced open, bring out the banded
